born of accident
The current work is inspired by the repetition of patterns and textures found in the terrestrial, the cosmic, and various elements of the real world. It draws from experimentation as an artist and from the nature of the medium itself, connecting it to those “perfect mistakes” found in nature.
The process begins with (mostly) ink drawings, where the medium is used as a controlled accident: spontaneous, yet at the same time planned and edited. From these abstract and representative images, a second stage emerges through collage. As an artist who rarely works digitally, this step becomes an extension of the practice, giving way to an evolution of the original compositions. By creating continuous, mirror-like collages, the images expand, repeat, and transform, reinforcing the presence of pattern and rhythm while introducing a sense of movement.
One could argue that everything in the universe is an accident, and in the same way, these works navigate between intention and chance. In the composition between the microscopic and the astronomical, between beauty and imperfection, each piece becomes unique, just like everything that exists in the real world, yet all are created under the same principles and materials.
In this way, a dialogue forms between the unrepeatable and the singular, and the idea of universal rules and patterns opens a reflection on the possibility of an inherent order or intelligence that governs the laws of nature, as well as on the ever-changing, fluid condition of both art and the natural world.
